Trump v New York

On July 21, 2020, President Trump issued a memorandum directing the secretary of the Department of Commerce, which includes the Census Bureau, to include the number of unauthorized noncitizens in the secretary’s report of the final census count. The president sought this information so that he could exclude unauthorized noncitizens from his determination of the apportionment of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives that, by law, he must send to Congress.
