Towards a More Perfect Union in Times of Change

April 29, 2022 @ 8:00 am May 1, 2022 @ 7:00 pm

This year’s theme is not just about the constitution as a historical document. This year, we will discuss the intent behind such a fundamental document and the theme throughout it. More specifically, we will discuss what the infamous line, “to a more perfect union”, meant at its drafting, what it promised, and what it means to American citizens today in times of change. We celebrate Law Day, by hosting a mock trial for the local elementary/middle school students on April 29, 2022 at the local Birmingham County Courthouse. In an effort to involve young students of all ages, we will also be hosting an art contest and an essay contest for our local high school students. BLSA will continue the celebration and begin the discussions surrounding this year’s theme on May 1, 2022 at the Birmingham School of Law. We kick things off with a live-streamed panel discussion with law professors and lawyers alike. Immediately after, we will have our alumni v. students trivia game and then we will end the evening with our Spring Rooftop Scholarship Mixer.
